You tapped Download, the file finished, and now you can’t find it. Don’t worry: browsers save files to predictable places on every device. Here is exactly where your Facebook Reels end up, and how to move them to your photo gallery.
iPhone and iPad (Safari)
Safari saves downloads to the Files app, not to Photos.
- Open the Files app.
- Tap Browse, then On My iPhone (or iCloud Drive) → Downloads.
- Your reel is the most recent MP4 in the list.
To add it to Photos: open the video in Files, tap the Share button and choose Save Video. It now appears in your camera roll and can be shared to other apps.
You can change where Safari saves files in Settings → Apps → Safari → Downloads.
Chrome on iPhone
Chrome for iOS asks what to do when a download finishes. Choose Open in… and then Save Video, or Save to Files to keep it in the Files app.
Android (Chrome, Samsung Internet, Firefox)
On Android, downloads go to the shared Downloads folder:
- Open the Files by Google app (or My Files on Samsung) and tap Downloads.
- Or open your browser’s menu (⋮) and tap Downloads.
Most gallery apps, including Google Photos and Samsung Gallery, show the Downloads folder automatically. In Google Photos look under Library → Download. If the video doesn’t appear, open Google Photos’ library settings and turn on backup for the Download folder.
Windows
Edge, Chrome and Firefox save to This PC → Downloads by default (C:\Users\YourName\Downloads). Press Ctrl + J in your browser to open the downloads list and click Show in folder.
Mac
Safari, Chrome and Firefox save to the Downloads folder in your Dock and Finder sidebar. In Safari, click the download arrow in the toolbar and then the magnifying glass to reveal the file.
Linux
Files are saved to ~/Downloads unless you changed your browser’s download location.
File names
FB Reels Downloader names each file after the reel’s caption and quality, for example morning-stretch-routine-hd-720p.mp4, so it’s easy to spot. Audio files end in .m4a.
Still can’t find it?
- Check whether the download actually finished: look for a progress indicator in the browser.
- Search your device for
.mp4(or.m4afor audio). - If the download link expired, paste the reel link into the downloader again for a fresh one.
