What people use reel audio for

A few legitimate, creator-friendly reasons to keep the sound from a reel.

  • Offline listening

Replay a cover, a remix or a motivational talk on your commute without streaming data.

  • Transcribing & note-taking

Feed tutorials, interviews and recipes into a transcription app to keep written notes.

  • Identifying a song

Run the clip through a music-recognition app to find the full track and support the artist.

  • Your own content

Recover the audio from reels you created when the original project file is lost.

  • Language learning

Loop short spoken clips to practise listening and pronunciation.

  • Respect the rights

Re-publishing music needs a licence. Keep downloads personal unless you own the rights.

About M4A audio quality

Facebook encodes reel soundtracks as AAC audio, typically HE-AAC around 48–128 kbps. Our audio downloader saves that stream as-is in an M4A container, so nothing is lost to a second round of compression.

M4A is supported natively on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android and Windows 10/11, and imports directly into editors such as CapCut, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and Audacity. If an app insists on MP3, convert the file once with a free tool like VLC.

Audio downloader FAQ

What audio format do I get?

The original soundtrack is saved as an M4A file (AAC audio), the same audio Facebook streams. It plays on iPhone, Android, Windows, macOS and in most music and editing apps.

Can I convert reel audio to MP3?

We provide the original M4A without re-encoding, so there is no quality loss. If you specifically need MP3, any audio converter (for example VLC or Audacity) can convert the M4A file.

Why doesn’t every reel have an audio option?

The audio-only track comes from Facebook’s adaptive streams. A few older or very short videos are only available as a combined file; in that case download the SD or HD MP4, which includes sound.

Can I use the music from a reel in my own videos?

Only if you have the rights. Songs in reels are usually licensed for use inside Facebook, not for re-publishing. Save audio for personal listening, or ask the rights holder before reusing it.

Does downloading the audio notify the creator?

No. Facebook does not notify creators when someone downloads a reel or its audio through FB Reels Downloader.
